The Bad and the Good
Feb. 9th, 2004 11:46 pmDon't worry...I'll talk about something happy later.
I would like to dedicate this post to Boots. Oh, man am I going to miss her.
So, today I was doing some work for Chris's company, and I called over to my library to ask a reference question. That was when I learned that Boots, who had been ill for about a week, had passed on. Boots was in her mid 80s, and so very full of life. She was my co-worker's mother, and she would often come by the Library to sit in our break room and chat with us. She bought us poinsettias at Christmastime and she would sometimes send us sweets. Her hair was always perfect, and she liked to wear pink. She had the coolest walker. You know, the kind with storage and a place to sit down. She used to laugh when I told her how cool it was. Everyone loved her, and to those of us at the Library she was The Librarymom.
And no, I don't deal well with loss. I have this thing where I have a chance to see someone, I don't, and then they die. The last couple haven't been like that, thank heavens. I'm just worried that it'll start again.
Ok. Happy stuff now.
I went with some friends to the Return of the King Ball put on by the PEERS folks. I dressed as a Hobbit (bare feet and all), Tess was a Hobbit, and Angele was dressed as one of the foes of westernesse. We danced for three hours. Yep, I danced barefoot. I don't like wearing shoes anyway. :) Wow, I'd fogotten how much I love dancing. I danced with complete strangers. I danced with my friend Ray. I saw Sophie and Kathleen (also cute little hobbits). There were many fabulous costumes, many good dancers, and (of course) sexy friends! I am definately going to another one of those.

Re: Gaskells
Date: 2004-02-12 02:35 pm (UTC)...you can certainly catch a ride, I generally crash at Rick and Ammy's afterward but if you'd not mind sharing their queen size and very comfy guest bed with me, and not mind being away overnight, we usually do a nice brekky the morning after.
If you want to, call and let me know and I'll make the arrangements. I can lend you a dress, too, I have a great short red velvet one that would look fabu on you.
