I first met
daibhidhbeag back in 1991 when I started working Faire. (shocked look. wow...that's a while ago, isn't it?)
We were in Scot's Camp together, and one of the things I remember most was that He (a very tall person) drove an MG (a very small car).
As I recall, he was part of the group from UCSC. That Summer I discovered Fresh Minty Death, the usefulness of the word "Taa-Daa!", and the coolness of a Viking hug.
(Try sitting next to
daibhidhbeag during a Basic Faire Accent class, and not burst out giggling at his asides. I dare you.)
Years later we would re-connect, and ended up being roommates for a couple of years (that's 2 houses: The House of Yaaaaaaaaar D [a kick butt party pad, with a random roof rodent], and the House of Pool [home of the indoor Bar B Q, built-in Bar(you put the lime in the cocoanut), and even more parties]).
Those were the times of the best parties. Good food, weird music, and a mix of folks from all different aspects of our lives.
Work, SCA, old friends, etc. Plus, the answering machine of many names for a mere three person house.
daibhidhbeag is one of the few people that has at least as many names as I do.
And he is generous and fun to be around. Who else would OCR and e-mail an important document to you, that you left at home?
daibhidhbeag has many fabulous skills. For example:
He always knows where the best restaurants are. How does he do it? Those places are great!
He plays a mean game of Tonk. (Anyone have the rules for that? I found my Tonk bag)
He's a great SCA fighter. Going to SCA events with him is just plain fun.
Did I mention, he also has a very huge brain? Look at how well he's been doing in school! (I am *so* stoked for you!)
On the down side, I haven't seen him in quite some time, and he doesn't post enough on LJ. (pout)
daibhidhbeag you rock!
