And there was silence across the land....

I almost expect to see tumbleweeds at some point here.
So. A couple of things.
(Yes, Andy. I *am* updating finally)
First of all. I was helping a patron find a "biography about a dead person" the other day.
When our copy of aalliyah's biography proved to be missing, I stood in the biography section with her to offer suggestions.
"Well, there's always Bruce Lee. He's interesting...and dead."
"Who's that?"
(struggle for composure) [Who's that!?!]
"He was a famous actor and Martial Artist. His son Brandon is dead, too, if you'd prefer."
(offer her a copy of a Brandon Lee biography. She thinks that it might do, as it is short).
(sigh)
In other news...one of our top five most disruptive patrons (when not taking his meds) was killed crossing a street in town the other day.
Needless to say we were all a bit stunned.
We are still on schedule to close my library on the 25th. We are supposed to have our desks packed by the 21st.
Lesse...I'm off until Wednesday (the 19th) when I will be at the new library from 12-4, then I'm on the desk from 6-9 at my library.
Thursday I have book club, so my schedule is 12-9 (which generally means 3 hours on the desk between 12 and 5)
and Friday is the 21st. I'm thinking of chaining myself to the desk. (you can't have it! It's mine!) ;)
(shrug) I'll figure it out.
What else...Oh, I *am* going to be working out of the new library it turns out. I might even have a fairly normal schedule.
My Medieval program is on the 27th, and somehow I need to get my part finished amid all of this packing.
I'm working on the Middle Earth Festival...Y'all know of a band that can play Medieval/renaissance music that would be willing to work for $600 for 5 hours?
I'm kinda in charge of the Costume Ball...and I just don't think a DJ would fit with the decor.
Ok. I think that's all for now.

Date: 2005-01-16 09:32 am (UTC)Do you need five straight hours of playing, or is the evening divided up into sets with breaks? If it's a full five hours straight through you might need to hire two bands to alternate... although we've certainly done longer gigs on accident! (Funny thing-- sometimes you can get caught up in playing and not realize you've been doing it all night, when you were just planning on a two-hour set!) What exactly are you looking for music-wise? Specific dance tunes? Other types of tunes? Songs? A blend of all three? Are you looking for more sedate traditional Medieval music, or is Rats' more raucus style style even what you want? We're not exactly Windam-Hill-harps-and-breathy sopranos. :)
Let me know if you're interested!

They mostly do Irish, some English country dance tunes, and i am not sure what else but they are adaptable.
