Ugh. There are too many. I'm all about the tropes & AUs & Crossovers. Hurt/comfort, Curtain!fic!, Protective!person!, etc.

For this, I guess I'll go with "character is secretly a..."

I love that trope! I haven't read this in a while but there's the Sherlock (BBC) fic Shadows on the Wall by AraSigyrn where John secretly came back from the war psychic. http://archiveofourown.org/works/144734
